Yes or No

Ordering Yoshinoya Beef Bowl (Gyudon) online: YES or NO?

Do you know Yoshinoya (吉野家) Beef Bowl which is called Gyudon? If you haven’t tried it, it’s worth trying at least once.

Yoshinoya is one of those fast food chain restaurants that are popular among Japanese salarymen and male students because food is cheap (not that cheap any more but cheaper relative to others) and is served quickly.

Now that Gyudon can be delivered to your home! Yoshinoya started e-commerce site where you can order their beef bowl online. Check it out here!

Yoshinoya e-commerce site

It’s frozen package that you can microwave.

But I’d have to say I’m not really sure about their strategy.

Who would order it online? :-/

Ordering online takes away one of the most benefits of eating Gyudon – being fast.

Another odd thing is that they started to target moms. That’s how I found out. I found a targeted advertisement saying it will make my life easier. Really…?

I understand they are trying to expand their customer segments from just salarymen and male students to broader segments. But I doubt moms will order Yoshinoya to make their life easier…

Yoshinoya will not win the competition with other food delivery services such as Pal System, Ouchi CO-OP, etc. where they offer so much more variety than just beef bowl.

So what do you say? Is it a YES or NO for e-commerce Yoshinoya beef bowl?

I would say NO. I think they should work on more to improve in-store services rather than going to e-commerce channel. If I really want to eat their beef bowl, I would just stop by and do take-out.

Leave me a comment to know what you think!
