Summer Festival [Part 1] in Showa Kinen Park – Rainbow Pool Opening!

It is rainy season right now in Tokyo (from June to July) but it will become very hot before you realize it. That means, it is time for pool!!!!! Especially if you have little kids, pool is the must-do activity in the summer. I have a toddler boy who loves water so I can’t wait until the pool opens.

There is a huge and exciting pool at Showa Kinen Park which is called Rainbow Pool. And it’s opening soon! It’s a pool with 9 different kinds of pool for all different age groups including toddler with only 15 cm depth pool. Not only kids, but also adults can fully enjoy.

Rainbow Pool Basic Information

Close: 6:30 PM (※ 5:30 PM on weekdays in July)

Open: 9:30 AM
Close: 6:00 PM (※ 5:00 PM on weekdays in September)

Adult (15 years old or older): 2,500 yen
Primary and junior high school students: 1,400 yen
Preschooler 4 years old or older: 500 yen
Senior (65 years old or older): 700 yen (You will be requested an I.D.)
Pregnant mom: 500 yen

<Sunset> ※ Admission after 2 PM
Adult (15 years old or older): 1,250 yen
Primary and junior high school students: 700 yen
Preschooler 4 years old or older: 250 yen

<Pool Passport> ※ During the pool season, you can use it as many times as you like.
Adult (15 years old or older): 6,700 yen
Primary and junior high school students: 3,400 yen

Important notes!!
If you have tattoos (including stickers), your admission will be denied. It has to do with preventing gangster involvement. I see many foreigners with tatoos as fashion or personal preference these days. However, there are still many places in Japan that you cannot enter if you have tatoos even if you have nothing to do with gangster whatsoever. Hopefully, it will change in the future.

What kinds of pools are there?

Here is the map of Rainbow Pool. There are 9 different kinds of pool you can enjoy! I translated explanation of 9 different pools from the official website.

① Water Slider

The colorful sliders have 4 lanes (27m yellow, 77m green, 98m blue, 53m red), and there are various ways to enjoy such as lanes that small children can slide safely or lanes that requires special floats. You can slide as many time as you like.
※ If you are 120cm or less tall, you can only use the yellow lane. In addition, children under primary school need to be monitored by their parents. (3 years old and younger children cannot use the slides.)

② Running Water Pool [water depth 1.1m]

It is a pool with water flowing slowly around the pool with 360 meters length. After enjoy swimming, you can also do sunbathing on the island in the middle of the pool.

③ Large Wave Pool [water depth 1.2 m]

It is a place where you can fully enjoy the feeling of the beach where waves of 30 to 40 cm hit the wide shore of 180 m in length.

④ Large Waterfall Pool [water depth 60 cm]

It is a pool with 5 large and small waterfalls (maximum 5m). Enjoy refreshing and adventurous waterfalls.

⑤ Mountain Stream Pool [water depth 30 cm]

You can enjoy a small swamp, which is an image of the mountain stream that runs from Large Waterfall Pool.

⑥ Adventure Pool [water depth 60 cm]

An exciting pool with an adventurous spirit. You can try it in various ways.

⑦ Clover Pool [water depth 1 m]

A romantic pool in the shape of a four leaf clover that calls for good luck.

⑧ Toddler Pool [water depth 10-15 cm]

It is a pool with a fountain shaped of fish such as catfish. Since the water depth is as shallow as 10cm to 15cm, it is an amusement pool where toddlers can play with peace of mind.

⑨ Monument Pool [water depth 25 cm]

It is a pool with water globes spin. You can enjoy the fountain spray.
